In duct cleaning, a cross-flow kit is used to create airflow through the HVAC system so debris being agitated can be pulled toward the Hypervac vacuum.

Typically, the idea is to connect the vacuum to one side of the system—often the supply or return—and open or connect the opposite side so air can flow across the system instead of the vacuum simply pulling against a closed duct system.

For a Hypervac operator, the benefit is:

• better airflow through the ductwork

• stronger movement of loosened dust and debris toward the vacuum

• improved cleaning of areas farther away from the vacuum connection

• helps prevent the system from becoming overly restricted while under negative pressure
