HAVAC Maintenance

Maintenance on the HAVAC is incredibly simple. The HAVAC is the main vacuum used in our H series Duct Trucks, as well as our Cube Vac and H1 Trailer.

With any air cooled engine, you have to do maintenance if it’s going to run for many years without a lot of problems. Note that we are also building a water cooled version of the HAVAC as well. But for maintenance on the air cooled engine make sure you check the oil every day so that you know it’s clean and clear. The cover does not need to be removed in order to check the oil, there is a hole in the side for this purpose.

You should change the oil every 100 hours or so. We have a hose that helps you drain the oil by removing the bottom cap. It will take about 2 litres of oil. Just let it drain out, put the cap back on and put new oil back in.

It’s quick and easy to do an oil change. Change the oil filter as well, you might need to crawl in a bit to do so, but it’s still fairly easy to get to.

Next: the high speed bearings. Make sure you grease those about every two weeks on average. If you do 2-3 houses a day, 5 days a week, make sure you get in there and grease the bearings with synthetic grease. They are high speed bearings so you can’t use regular grease, it has to be synthetic.

The oil inside the fluid coupler uses standard non-detergent hydraulic oil and should be changed once every year.

In summary, change the engine oil every 100 hours, grease your bearings every 2 weeks and annually change the oil in the fluid coupler. You should also check your air filter and blow it out with your air compressor whenever you do your oil change, along with changing the oil filter. That’s it, maintenance is very straightforward and simple. If you follow these maintenance guidelines, we expect your vacuum to last many years.
